To perform, clerical support, marketing support, sales analysis, reporting and other related duties for Neogen’s Agrigenomics sales and marketing team. Assists in the coordination of communications between marketing managers, sales staff, product management, technical service, customer service and customer accounts, along with Neogen Corporation and its subsidiaries. Also assists in the coordination of Human Resource related duties for the GeneSeek operation in Lincoln, Nebraska. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned.
- Analysis and reporting of sales data, sales force activity and customer profile information derived from Company systems.
- Coordinates marketing and sales promotional activities between Lincoln and Lansing offices.
- Serves as primary HR contact, responsible for all HR activities in conjunction with Corporate Human Resources in Lansing, MI.
- Responsible for new hire orientation training and paperwork for new employees.
- Communicates necessary HR related information to the office staff and managers.
- Works with general manager in documenting any disciplinary or dismissal paperwork.
- Performs basic clerical support, as needed, for the Sales/Marketing staff.
- Responsible for organization, registration, and expense tracking of marketing tradeshow events.
- Organizes and maintains effective filing system, and files correspondence and other records.
- Arranges and coordinates travel schedules and reservations for sales/marketing staff through Travel Coordinator.
- Compile and prepare regular and/or special reports (sales activity, forecasts, departmental, etc.)
- Assist in preparation and monitoring of sales revenue and expense budgets.
- Prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through on issues in a timely manner.
- Relieves office receptionist for breaks and lunches.
- All other duties assigned by supervisor.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma/GED required, 2 year college degree strongly preferred. Requires at least 1-3 years experience in an administrative support role and related experience and/or training.
Laboratory assistants are responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tasks, including routine lab maintenance, preparation of samples for genotyping, sample reception, data entry, assisting Lab Technicians, and other duties as assigned by a Supervisor or Manager.
- Assist in sample and reagent preparation.
- Assist with sample and supply receipt, documentation, and cataloging
- Assist Technicians in data generation from a variety of laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation.
- Maintains laboratory notebooks, archives, and sample or specimen repository.
- Assist in maintaining the laboratory by performing preventive maintenance and assuring a clean and safe environment.

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent; some additional higher education or concurrent pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree is beneficial. Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required
Performs laboratory tests, specifically standard and next generation sequencing, to conduct research efforts in developing new genomic test services and diagnostic tests for the Agricultural Biotechnology Industry through a variety of scientific techniques, instrumentation, and disciplines by performing the following duties.
- Generates and analyzes data from a variety of instrumentation, including instrumentation specialized for standard and next generation sequencing.
- Prepares reagents, as necessary and applicable. Monitors inventory of reagents and supplies necessary for library preparation and sequencing.
- Evaluates external reagent kits and library preparation kits for their suitability of the GeneSeek Sequencing operations, develops and evaluates suitable in-house nucleic acid reagents for library preparation.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of Sequencing standard operating procedures.
- Helps evaluate new Sequencing instrumentation.
- Maintains appropriate records, curates archives and sample repository, as applicable.
- Maintains good working relationship with lab personnel.
- Works to implement ISO17025 quality standards into the workflow and assures results meet industry and/or scientific literature standards.
- Adheres to industry and government standards regarding safe handling of materials.
Education and/or Experience:
MS degree in a science discipline (chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, or related discipline); or five years’ experience and/or training related to sequencing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Manages the day to day activities of the genomics laboratory, including maintenance of laboratory operations, planning and scheduling projects, conducting experiments, training appropriate staff and ensuring a highly professional laboratory environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned.
- Assist with supervision of lab technicians and assistants, manage day to day activities and ensure employees perform assigned tasks
- Assist with training of new staff to manage laboratory workload and performance.
- Proficiency in designing and providing input to the laboratory technicians as they perform their daily tasks. Gains an understanding of the customer needs from the SNP product manager to manage daily workload and delivery of data.
- Proficiency in a variety of molecular biology techniques.
- Maintains essential lab equipment, communicates with vendors and service technicians.
- Works within budgeted expenses and maintains a constant focus on cost reduction.
- Maintains laboratory notebooks, archives, catalog of studies conducted (organized by Neogen product and commodity validated) and sample or specimen repository.
- Maintains the laboratory including ordering supplies and equipment, calibrating instruments, performing preventive maintenance, and assuring a clean and safe environment.
- Interacts routinely with all levels of management and co-workers in an effective manner.
- Meets individual and departmental goals and objectives.
- Works with Quality manager and supports ISO procedures including development, documentation and execution.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in genetics, molecular biology, biology, or related field. Advanced graduate degree in biological science preferred.
Conducts entire spectrum of Veterinary Diagnostics data generation, including sample management and processing, RNA/DNA extraction, samples preparation of protein-based assays, quality analysis of reagents for performance, operation of high throughput instrumentation, and other related tasks. Tasks may include data generation for GeneSeek’s other business segments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned.
- Conducts entire spectrum of Veterinary Diagnostics data generation from sample management and processing, RNA/DNA extraction, quality analysis of reagents for performance, operation of high throughput instrumentation, and other related tasks.
- Assist in the training of new technicians and interns in order to better manage laboratory workload.

Research and Development Technician

Performs laboratory tests to conduct research efforts in developing new genomics services and diagnostics tests for the Agricultural Biotechnology Industry through a variety of scientific techniques, instrumentation, and disciplines by performing the following duties.
- Generates and analyzes data from a variety of laboratory techniques and genomic instrumentation.
- Make and QC all critical reagents (buffers, solutions, solvent mixtures) used in SNP genotyping programs.
- Development of nucleic acid reagents used in internal and external research programs.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of R&D standard operating procedures.
- Together with Research and Development Director evaluate new genomic technology platforms
- Performs validation studies to replicate results and to verify results with industry or scientific literature standards.
- Maintains laboratory notebooks, archives, and sample repository.
- Maintain good working relationship with lab personnel.
- Adheres to industry and government standards regarding safe handling of materials.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Education and/or Experience:
BS in life sciences discipline such as Agriculture, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genetics, etc. is required. Training and demonstrated experience in molecular biology lab techniques. Graduate degree (M.S.) in animal breeding/genetics, diagnostic testing, or genomic analysis is strongly preferred. Ability to handle large data sets in Excel and/or previous experience with PERL or R is a plus.
| Sales Director, Cattle Genomics |
|
Responsible for development of the Neogen Agri-genomics cattle based services and products targeted to the animal agricultural industry. Included in these duties is responsibility for management of the North American sales and marketing team, development and marketing of new products for specific market segments (feedlot, seedstock, cow/calf). Will work closely with international locations to provide strategic direction on commercial execution and provide support as needed. Extensive involvement with the beef cattle improvement industry (trade associations, multi-national genetic companies, breed associations, etc.) will be required to determine market needs in order to grow market share. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for the management of Neogen Agri-genomics cattle genomic services business on a global basis. Together with the General Manager, and Director of Sales and Marketing, collaborate to ensure development of an international and domestic marketing plan aimed at a goal of increasing revenues 15% annually, increasing market share, and improving operating profits.
- Directly manages the North American beef genomic Sales/Marketing team, responsible for senior management of sales channel partners in North America. Helps to design strategies to meet the marketing and sales plans of action to complete the strategies.
- Oversees any consultants working on the Neogen Agri-genomics cattle segment.
- Coordinates the planning and execution of Neogen’s proprietary genomic/bioinformatic development efforts. This may include organization and management of collaborate research agreements, identification of new discoveries available for licensing, and establishing targeted research.
- Assume leadership role in expanding and strengthening relationships at highest levels with customers, prospects, academic institutions, and other centers of influence. Seeks opportunities to represent and position Neogen Corporation as a leading participant in the successful development and marketing of genomic based services and diagnostics to the Agricultural Biotechnology Industry. Utilizes existing Neogen leadership in other market segments as leverage to position Neogen in these new markets
- Participate in development of annual budgets with specific responsibility for forecasting revenues
- Aid in preparing monthly management reports and participate in monthly management meetings.
- Perform other duties as agreed upon with supervisor.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time and be able to travel internationally for up to one week~ four times per year.
Education and/or Experience: Graduate degree (M.S, Ph.D, DVM.) in life sciences discipline such as Agriculture, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genetics etc. (strongly preferred). Business-to-Business sales experience in a company that operated within a product management structure and marketing principles, product launch activities and sales support. Business/marketing management experience desired. Experience/exposure to animal breeding/genetics, diagnostic testing, or genomic analysis.
